Paul Parry is an artist and clockmaker specialising in Nixie Clocks. He has appeared on BBC’s Money for Nothing. He is the director and founder of Bad Dog Designs Nixie Clocks Ltd, creating unique and individual clocks from original vintage Nixie tubes.

Paul’s professional career commenced as an apprentice at an electronics company, where he gained experience and his electronics qualifications through to a Higher National Diploma. He then moved into some research and development work with embedded microcontrollers, after which he became a commissioning engineer, which took him all over the world commissioning communication equipment. He ended up in management, looking after a team of maintenance engineers.

Paul set up Bad Dog Designs in 2014, an international designer and supplier of unique clocks and kinetic sculptures utilising vintage display technologies. Bad Dog Designs won the Theo Paphitis #SBS [Small Business Sunday] award in January 2016. The Dragons’ Den star spotted Bad Dog Designs through his weekly Small Business Sunday initiative on Twitter, where he rewards entrepreneurs who send him a quick description of their business.

The business was the joint 2nd winner in the 2016 International Arts and Craft Design Awards and was awarded a Certificate of Excellence in 2017.
