Ockie Strydom is a South African professional golfer. He turned professional in 2009. He earned his first win on the DP World Tour at the Alfred Dunhill Championship on Sunday, December 11, 2022, at the age of 37.
Strydom started the final round level on 15-under par with Scott Jamieson (76) but suffered a setback on the ninth with a double-bogey at the unique Leopard Creek course which borders the Kruger National Park. He rallied, however, to secure four birdies in the next five holes and ease to victory on 18-under par, ahead of Spaniard Adrian Otaegui (68) and England’s Laurie Canter (64).
Strydom said: “It feels good. I’ve finally done it. To do it on Leopard Creek as well is something special. It’s nice. I think my plans just changed a little bit!

“It’s my favourite place, this. The course is looking phenomenal – the best I’ve ever seen it. It’s the bush. I’m calm in the bush. My first win was in the bush and now we’re back in the bush. I’m just happy.”
Strydom secured his second DP World Tour title at the 2023 Singapore Classic on Sunday, February 12, 2022 at the age of 38. The win earned him a Prize Money of €317,075.84.
It was a second DP World Tour win in six starts for Strydom after he managed nine birdies and no dropped shots on his way to the low round of the week and a 19-under-par total.
That was good enough for a one-shot victory over Sami Välimäki, who looked on course for the win midway through the final day, with Marcel Schneider, Jeunghun Wang and Alejandro del Rey on 15 under.
Strydom is an 11-time winner on the South African IGT Challenge Tour, was a runner-up 14 times on the Sunshine Tour before a breakthrough victory in 2019 at the Vodacom Origins Sishen.
He had five further runner-up finishes before his maiden success on the DP World Tour, winning the co-sanctioned Alfred Dunhill Championship at Leopard Creek at the start of the 2023 season, carding a course record 63 during the third round.
