Nikita Kanda is a radio host and TV presenter. She is best known for being the current host of the BBC Asian Network’s Breakfast Show. Nikita first joined Asian Network in March 2021 as a Saturday afternoon host, before she temporarily hosted the Breakfast show since July.

In January 2023, BBC Asian Network announced Nikita Kanda as the permanent host of the Breakfast Show.

Nikita said: ”I’m really excited to be taking on the breakfast show permanently. It’s the only job that I have ever jumped out of bed at 4am for because I love radio. Every day is different you never know what you’re going to get.

“Over the last few months, the listeners have become my best friends. I don’t know what I would do without them as they provide the endless daily laughs and banter and are the main focus of the show. She has interviewed everyone from Killing Eve star Sandra Oh, Bridgerton actors Kate Sharma and Charithra Chandran, to Marvel actress Awkwafina and global pop star Nick Jonas.

Recently nominated for Presenter of the Year at the Asian Media Awards, Nikita has also fronted regular reports on BBC One’s The One Show on a range of topics from the rise of cashless businesses to government support for female sport.

Early Career

According to Money Management, Nikita Kanda presented a Saturday lunchtime show 1-3 pm with co-host Mistah Islah. The show doubled its listenership and won a silver APA award in November 2021.

Nikita and Islah created a number of viral videos for the station, including spoofs on BBC blockbusters The Apprentice and EastEnders, and have co-hosted the BBC Asian Network Comedy Night, which is available on BBC iPlayer.

Nikita studied film and screen media at university. She had stints on ZEE TV and the drivetime show on Asian Star 101.6FM. A veteran of West End theatre, Nikita has performed in productions including The Wiz, Bugsy Malone, Annie and Pocahontas.
