Nicky Biography – Nicky Wiki

Nicky is a contestant on the 14th series of The Great British Bake Off on Channel 4. A retired cabin crew and volunteer from West Midlands, Nicky describes her baking as ‘like a pair of comfy old slippers; little traditional bakes that evoke fond memories’.

For Nicky herself, those memories are of her Gran’s kitchen table where, as a little girl, she would roll out pastries and decorate cakes – which she says was as much fun then as all her baking is to her now.

Her favourite bakes are still pastries, but she also loves making breads, and fun birthday cakes for her niece and grandchildren.

When she’s not baking, Nicky volunteers for a pet-therapy charity (along with her dog, Bracken) and loves to ski, which she has been doing since she was only three years old.

Nicky is a contestant on the 2023 series of The Great British Bake Off, presented by Noel Fielding and Alison Hammond.

The 52 year old announced her participation in GBBO on Instagram, writing: “Is that really me or am I still living in a dream. Wowzers, I’m a wee bit lost for words which is a bit unusual for me. My once in a lifetime dream of being in the big white tent has just become very real.

“You are going to fall in love with all my fellow bakers just like I have. We have been on the most amazing adventure together and now you can come and join us on the next part of this fun filled baking extravaganza. So get comfy on your sofa and get ready to enjoy The Great British Bake Off Series 14.”

Speaking of the moment she was told she had made the cut for the hit Channel 4 show, Nicky said: “I never let myself believe that it might actually happen, in case my amazing dream was well and truly shattered. Then when the phone rang and I was told the news, I couldn’t believe that dreams really can come true and can become the most amazing reality. It was a massive ‘pinch me’ moment that still doesn’t seem real.”

Speaking about joining the Bake Off tent, she said: “Seeing the big white tent for the first time felt like going to see a show on Broadway. It was something I had dreamt about for a very long time but thought that it would never become a reality. I was like a kid in a sweet shop as I walked towards my work station. I couldn’t wait to open every drawer and door to explore what was inside.”

Speaking about The Great British Bake Off presenters, she said: “From the minute I met Alison and Noel, I felt like I had known them for years. They both made me chuckle so much and our chats, both on and off camera, were always a real hoot. I think I spent too long chatting away to them and forgot that I was in the tent to bake.”
