Melissa McCabe Biography – Melissa McCabe Wiki
Melissa McCabe is a self-taught chef and owner of Feast Food Truck. The Camlough-based chef is a contestant on Series 19 of Great British Menu on BBC Two.
Melissa only started her food truck venture a year ago, but it has already garnered major reviews all over Northern Ireland – from food critics and customers alike.
Her unique philosophy of sourcing local food wherever she’s parked, and giving people the opportunity to taste fine-dining food outside the traditional restaurant setting, truly sets her apart from the crowd.
Her passion for cooking started while working in a takeaway kitchen at the age of fifteen. However, Melissa’s ambitions soon led her to travel the world in search of new culinary experiences, working in Australia (Muttis in Melbourne) and New Zealand. Muttis is where Melissa realised that her life was destined to be in the kitchen, and she fell in love with the industry.
After her experience overseas, Melissa returned to Northern Ireland to work her way up the ranks, and later set off to the Loch Melfort in the west coast of Scotland (2 Rosettes) which led her to really appreciate the excellent produce that the UK has to offer. She then went on work at London’s The Glasshouse (*) in Kew, where she developed her skills further, as well as at several other top restaurants in London.
With her food truck, she has formed strong connections with markets and suppliers, allowing her to showcase the very best of Northern Ireland produce on her menu. Her commitment to using locally sourced ingredients ensures that her dishes are packed full of flavour and freshness, and celebrate all of the incredible produce that Northern Ireland has to offer.
