Mel Reid is an English professional golfer from Derby, England. Reid currently competes on the U.S based LPGA Tour and Ladies European Tour (LET). She had a very decorated amateur career and recorded several victories as an amateur including; The 2004 and 2005 English Girls’ Championship, the 2006 and 2007 Helen Holm Trophy, the 2007 St Rule Trophy, and the 2007 Ladies’ British Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship. At the 2007 Women’s British Open, Reid was the low amateur with a T16 finish. She also made several team appearances such as the 2005 Junior Solheim Cup representing Europe, in 2006, Reid was a member of the GB&I team at the 2006 Curtis Cup and represented England at the Espirito Santo Trophy. In 2007, Reid was in the Great Britain & Ireland team at the Vagliano Trophy.
Reid turned professional at the end of 2007 and started competing on the LET in 2008 on sponsor invitations. She finished 3rd at the Australian Open and stayed in the top 20 on the LET money list thus gaining entry into Ladies European Tour events for the remainder of the season. She finished 12th on the money list in 2008 and was named Ladies European Tour Rookie of the Year. On May 9, 2010, she earned her first LET victory at the Turkish Airlines Ladies Open. On Jun 5, 2011, she won her second LET tournament at the Deloitte Ladies Open. She has also won at the Open De EspaƱa Femenino, Raiffeisenbank Prague Golf Masters, Turkish Airlines Ladies Open, and the Oates Victorian Open.
Reid has played for team Europe three times at the Solheim Cup in 2011 (winner), 2015, and 2017. She was representing Europe at The Queens in 2015 and 2017 and represented England at the International Crown in 2016. In 2016, Reid finished tied for 8th at the 2016 LPGA Tour Final Qualifying Tournament to earn Priority List Category 12 status for the 2017 LPGA Tour season.
In 2017, she played 19 events and made 11 cuts, she recorded a season-best T13 finish at the Pure Silk-Bahamas LPGA Classic and finished 11th in the Louise Suggs Rolex Rookie of the Year standings. On October 4, 2020, she earned her first LPGA Tour win at the ShopRite LPGA Classic, she won it by two strokes over United States Jennifer Kupcho. Reid became a Rolex-First Time Winner with her victory at the ShopRite LPGA Classic. She played at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics where she finished 55th.
