Mariajo Uribe is a Colombian professional golfer. She currently plays on the LPGA Tour. Born María José Uribe Durán was born in Girón, Santander, Colombia, she started playing golf at the age of 9 years. Uribe had a very colorful amateur career, during her amateur career she won the 2007 U.S. Women’s Amateur, beating Amanda Blumenherst, 1 up. Her win made her the only player from Latin America to have won this championship. She won the 2008 Mexican International Amateur. Uribe played college golf at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and was an All-American First Team selection in 2008 and 2009. Uribe made team appearances at the Espirito Santo Trophy representing Colombia in 2006 and 2008.
Uribe turned professional in 2009, in July 2009, she joined the Duramed Futures Tour. She also played in the ING New England Golf Classic, finishing in a tie for 15th place. At the end of the year, she earned her LPGA Tour card and qualified for the Ladies European Tour (LET) membership for 2010 on her first attempt. On 29 May 2011, Uribe defeated Lindsey Wright by one stroke, to win the HSBC Brazil Cup. Uribe won the gold medal at the 2015 Pan American Games and the silver medal at the 2014 South American Games. She competed at the 2016 Rio Olympics finishing T19. She attended the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Uribe lives in Bucaramanga, Colombia.
