Louise Minchin is a British journalist, news presenter, and philanthropist. Minchin served as a BBC Breakfast’s presenter on BBC One with Dan Walker. On 8 June 2021, she announced live on air that she would be leaving BBC Breakfast “after the summer”, after being the show’s lead presenter for two decades. Minchin later left BBC on October 15, 2021. She wrote on her Instagram account; ” Good morning and thank you for your love support and messages. This is the last and final 6am sofa selfie. Working on #BBCBreakfast has been absolute privilege and I will miss it enormously.”

During her tenure at BBC, she presented several BBC programs including; serving as a guest presenter for The One Show, she also presented Real Rescues, Missing, and Crime and Punishment on BBC One. Minchin was also a regular voice on BBC Radio 5 live. She covered significant stories of the last decade, such as the 7/7 London bombings, the capture of Colonel Gaddafi, and the BP oil spill. Minchin presented the BBC News at Ten the day Saddam Hussein was hanged. Minchin began her journalism career at the Latin American Section of the BBC World Service.

She portrayed herself reading the news in three BBC series: spy drama Spooks, crime drama Silent Witness and the Torchwood miniseries Children of Earth. In 2016, she was a contestant on Celebrity MasterChef on BBC One finishing second. Minchin graduated from St Mary’s School, Ascot, and later earned a degree in Spanish from St Andrew’s University. She later joined The London College of Printing where she studied journalism and trained as a radio journalist.

In 2009, Minchin was among the 12 celebrities who participated in the BBC’s Around the World in 80 Days. Louise traveled from Mongolia to Los Angeles, United States with BBC Breakfast co-presenter Bill Turnbull to raise money for Children in Need. She is a supporter of SOS Children’s Villages, an international orphan charity providing homes and mothers for orphaned and abandoned children. She also supports the Missing People, which provides support for missing children, vulnerable adults, and families left in limbo. Minchin is an amateur triathlete, she qualified as a member of the 2015 Great Britain Age-Group Triathlon Team (45–49 age group). In September 2015, she competed at the World Triathlon Championships in Chicago.
