Lois Gunn Biography – Lois Gunn Wiki

Lois Gunn is an artist jeweller and ceramicist living and working in Ramsgate, Kent. “I work in recycled sterling silver and gold as well as ceramics and love mixing the two to make high quality and unusual pieces of jewellery and items for your home.”

“My pieces often reflect my passions – recycled glass, the ocean, spirituality and ancient and modern tradition. I’m always inspired by the seaside and the ocean. The shapes of seaweed, the mysteries below, the feelings that fill me when I’m starting out to or swimming under the sea.

“Influenced by ancient cultures and our link to others, nature and spirituality through objects. I’m drawn to the ancient Egyptian and Peruvian cultures in particular. Their belief in the magic the world held and their use of symbolism always excites me.

“Silversmithing and jewellery making has always been my passion and I discovered ceramics when I first went to @clayspacestudios. Now I teach there and am obsessed with clay and I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

Lois Gunn The Great Pottery Throwdown

Jewellery designer Lois Gunn is a contestant on series 6 of The Great Pottery Throw Down on Channel 4. On 30 December 2022, Lois announced that she was taking part in the show. She wrote: “I can finally tell you I was lucky enough to join these 11 other potters and take part in The Great Pottery Throw Down 2023!”

In the first week of the show, Lois won Pot of the Week while Vithu was eliminated. “I was so excited when we took this picture that I could only stand on one leg,” she wrote alongside a photo of herself with Keith Brymer Jones, a judge on the TV programme The Great Pottery Throw Down.

She added: “Thanks @keithbrymerjones and @richmillerpots for the feedback and feeling the love I put into that set of my sister @abidays (@claydays_london).

“I wish someone didn’t have to go. I love Vithu, we really got on well when we met and he’s a brilliant potter. Sometimes it’s just a dice roll with ceramics so it seems so sad not to have the chance to get to know him better and see more of his work.

“What a start to the @potterythrow journey. I feel so so privileged to have been part of this amazing group of potters and to have met so many beautiful humans from the production team and crew too.

“Thanks for the tsunami of positive messages it’s just a bloody dream!”
