Linda Plant Biography – Linda Plant Wiki

Linda Plant is a British TV personality, fashion entrepreneur and interior designer. She is well known for her hard-hitting interview style with candidates on BBC 1’s “The Apprentice’, providing advice to Lord Sugar for over 5 series. She started her career selling clothes at a Leeds market stall aged 16 before launching the international knitwear brand Honeysuckle.

She built her career from humble beginnings to become one of Britain’s most recognisable business leaders and is now empowering others to successfully start and run their own companies with her Linda Plant Business Academy. The Academy guides and supports the next generation of business owners and entrepreneurs by sharing the knowledge, experience and insights Linda has gained over decades of building and running successful businesses.

After leaving school at the age of 16 with no qualifications, Linda went from selling fashion on a Leeds market stall to launching an international knitwear brand, Honeysuckle. She founded Honeysuckle in 1974, selling her designs worldwide before selling the company for millions in 1997 at the age of 29. She later took back control of the influential fashion brand before becoming one of the first women to float a fashion brand on the London Stock Exchange.

As a pioneering female business leader, Linda worked in a series of challenging executive roles, building, and running successful companies. Today, in addition to the Linda Plant Business Academy, she also runs property development and interior design businesses. She has been the Director of the interior design firm Homerun Services since 2008 and luxury furniture company Plant Collections since 2017, according to her Linkedin profile. She is also a panelist and judge, including of top female entrepreneurs for HSBC’s Panel of Forward Ladies and a Prince’s Trust Mentor.

The one piece of advice the BBC ‘The Apprentice’ interviewer could give to her younger self is “to invest in Matalan. John Hargreaves, owner of Matalan was a customer of mine when he had a company called Jaymax, named after his son and daughter. He wanted to expand his company and he needed £250,000 for a share in his new venture, Matalan. That was a substantial sum in those days and I decided that I had to invest in my own business instead,” she told We Are The City in a past interview.
