Kevin D’Arcy Biography – Kevin D’Arcy Wiki

Kevin D’Arcy is an accountant and candidate on The Apprentice 2023. He is the co-founder of Orca Board, an award winning Irish owned and operated water sports company. Kevin and his business partner Alana Prior started the watersports company in October 2020.

Orca Board donates 10% of its profits directly to two charities: The Whale Sanctuary Project in Nova Scotia, Canada and Seal Rescue Ireland to help in whale and dolphin conservation.

They explain: “This is something which is close to our hearts and its the reason why our boards are named after Orcas held in captivity. There are more than 3,000 whales and dolphins in captivity around the world.

In the EU, 14 countries hold whales and dolphins in captivity. There are 33 facilities using 307 whales and dolphins for human entertainment.”

Orca Board has been supported by the Enterprise Office and have featured in the media by The Irish Times, Irish Independent and Lovin Ireland. In addition their products have featured in Image Magazine, VIP Magazine, Stellar Magazine, amongst other.

In December 2021, Orca Board won a Silver Medal at the National Start Up Awards for best product by a Start Up.

Irish entrepreneur Kevin D’Arcy is one of the candidates on Series 17 of The Apprentice competing to win Lord Sugar’s £250,000 investment. Kevin started his water sports equipment business during lockdown, whilst working in his job in the financial services. He is looking to expand his business into the UK and is set on securing Lord Sugar’s investment.

What is your USP?

I have not only a strong 10-year career in financial services, but a thriving business I set up on the side that has turned over just under half a million in two years. That shows that I have commercial awareness and the drive and determination to succeed that sets me apart from the rest.

What is your biggest weakness?

In short, I can be a little outspoken, so probably not knowing when to shut up.

Why do you deserve Lord Sugar’s investment?

I started my business two years ago, on the side of a senior position in the financial services. It’s gone from strength to strength in Ireland and is now stocked in some of the country’s biggest stores. With Lord Sugar as my business partner, I know we can ride that wave into the UK and beyond…
