Ken Seitz is President and Chief Executive Officer of Nutrien Ltd., the world’s largest provider of crop inputs and services. The Saskatoon-based fertilizer giant announced that its Board of Directors has appointed Ken Seitz as its President and CEO, effective August 8, 2022. Seitz will also join the Nutrien Board of Directors. The announcement follows an extensive seven-month global search including internal and external candidates led by the Board and supported by a world-class executive recruitment firm with a dedicated agriculture and chemical practice.

Seitz served as interim CEO since January 2022. He was named the company’s interim CEO in January 2022 after Mayo Schmidt stepped down as president and chief executive and also resigned from the company’s board of directors. Schmidt was named CEO at Nutrien in April 2021.

Seitz joined Nutrien in October 2019, as Executive Vice President and CEO Potash, leading the world’s largest potash producer with over 20 million tonnes of potash capacity at our six lower-cost potash mines in Saskatchewan.
Prior to joining Nutrien, he was the President and CEO of Canpotex, one of the world’s largest suppliers of Potash, where he was appointed to the role in 2015. He has extensive experience in global fertilizer marketing and logistics and strong connections within the industry.
Seitz previously worked with Cameco Corporation for 18 years, holding a variety of senior management roles, including Senior Design Engineer; VP, Marketing and Administration; VP, Corporate Development; and Senior VP and Chief Commercial Officer.
He is the Chair of the Board of Directors for Canpotex and is also a member of the Board of Directors for Source Energy Services. He has previously served on the Board of the Canada–United Arab Emirates Business Council and the Saskatoon Regional Economic Development Authority Board.
Seitz has a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, a Bachelor of Engineering and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Saskatchewan.
