Jo Gill Biography – Jo Gill Wiki

Jo Gill is a leatherworker specializing in leather marquetry. She is featured in the second series of BBC 1 Make it at Market.

The leather designer creates unique statement leather jewelry and accessories using a unique leather marquetry technique, which involves cutting each piece of leather precisely by hand rather like a jigsaw before stitching.

She loves working with leather as it is a quality material but it comes with a relatively high carbon footprint, the reason she tries to maintain a no-waste attitude to her work with an emphasis on using off-cuts and recycled leather from fashion garments that would otherwise be destined for landfill.

Her style is fun, colorful, bold, and illustrative, she designs and makes all of her products in her studio in Essex. I am very much inspired by animals and nature especially flowers, which feature heavily in her work.

She makes a variety of products such as hand-sculpted leather flower hair pieces, large statement necklaces & corset belts. She likes to produce statement pieces and views her work as a form of wearable art.
