Jeff Everson was an American bodybuilder. He was a former Mr. USA and Masters Mr. America titleholder during his storied career. While in college, Everson was an All-American shot put and hammer throw athlete.
In addition, Everson held a National Collegiate Olympic Weightlifting Championships record that held for 11 years.
Everson was the founder of Planet Muscle magazine. He had a Ph.D. in physical education and met his future wife at the University of Wisconsin where he had been working as a strength coach.
Jeff won the Masters Nationals – NPC bodybuilding competition in 1992, the same year he placed 6th in the masters division of the Mr. Universe competition.

According to TMZ, Everson was found dead on February 25, 2019 at his Los Angeles home when his roommate (a former fiancee) returned from a work trip. Everson had recently been complaining about pains in his legs and feet. Everson may have passed away a few days before his body was discovered. According to officials, there are no signs of foul play and they do not believe Jeff died of suicide. Investigators believe he died of natural causes.
Everson’s death was confirmed by Sports medicine pioneer Dr. Robert Goldman in a Facebook post on February 26, 2019. He wrote on Facebook: “Huge Loss for the Body Building world. Our dear friend and Icon Jeff Everson just passed away. Jeff was a real innovator in everything from the body building sciences, to nutrition, to publishing and former husband of 7X Ms Olympia Cory Everson-Donia… Jeff was brilliant, innovative, creative and a true force in the field who touched many lives. He was my good friend, colleague and body building fitness brother and will be greatly missed by all. My dear friend Cory let me know this morning. Her and Jeff and their families remained so close.”
