Ioan Jones is a contestant on season 18 of MasterChef UK on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. Prior to joining the MasterChef 2022, Ioan was a Marketing Manager based in Salford. The home cook has been passionate about cooking since a young age. He was nurtured and encouraged by the three most important women in his life, his Mum and grandmothers.

Asked about his Food Inspiration, the MasterChef contestant told the BBC: “I am originally from a farming family and community, raised in the countryside and surrounded with an abundance of fresh produce. This has made me passionate about the produce I use and I understand and respect its origins. I am a keen traveller and look for inspiration from new produce, cultures and experiences from around the world.”

Asked why he applied to be on MasterChef 2022, Ioan said: “MasterChef has always been a dream of mine. I have avidly watched it over several years, always thinking “I will apply … one day” – and here I am, I finally plucked up the courage!

“This is the opportunity of a lifetime. I want to demonstrate my passion, my ability to grow as a cook and most importantly I want to have fun. I am so excited being part of the MasterChef competition this year!”

“I’m so excited to announce that I will be a contestant on Series 18 of MasterChef UK. I have absolutely loved watching MasterChef over the years. Finally after some encouragement, and maybe some Dutch courage, I submitted my application.

“Into the ether it disappeared, and after a couple months I had totally forgotten about it. Until one day I had a random call whilst at the gym, and my journey into the world of MasterChef UK began.

“Cooking has been a passion of mine since I was child, nurtured and encouraged by the three most important women in my life, my Mum and my Grandmothers (No offence to Dad).”
