Imran Okoth Biography – Imran Okoth Biography Wikipedia

Bernard Otieno Okoth alias Imran Okoth, is the brother of the late Kibra MP Ken Okoth. He is the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) candidate for the Kibra Constituency by-election scheduled for November 7.

He emerged the winner in the ODM primaries held on Saturday, September 8, 2019 with 4,382 votes. He was followed by Peter Orero (1,218), John Milla Otieno (906), Ben Musungu (524), Christone Odhiambo (417), Tony Ogola (381), Stephen Okello (228), Brian Owino (127), Reuben Ojijo (52) and Eric Obayi (45).

Imran will now face off with Jubilee’s McDonald Mariga, ANC’s Eliud Owalo and Ford Kenya’s Khamisi Butichi in the by-election. The Kibra seat fell vacant following the death of Ken Okoth who succumbed to colorectal cancer on July 26, 2019 at Nairobi Hospital at the age of 41.

Imran Okoth was Ken Okoth’s personal assistant. Imran oversaw development projects in Kibra constituency during the three years Ken was away for medication.

Should Imran win the November 7 by-election, he will join a list of politicians to take over the leadership mantle due to family ties. Kitui West MP Edith Nyenze is the latest to be elected to succeed her husband, Francis Nyenze, who died soon after the 2017 General election. Other political heirs include Moses Kajwang’, Eugene Wamalwa, Mutula Kilonzo Junior, Juma Boy, Oburu Oginga and ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi.
