Guy Trench is an antique dealer and artisan on BBC’s ‘Money for Nothing’ and ‘Celebrity Money for Nothing’. He is the founder of Antiques By Design, an innovative company that combines antiques, reclaimed items and old materials to create beautiful and unique interior and exterior pieces.
Guy had an interest in antiques from a young age. Before he became involved in antiques, he was a North Sea diver for nine years and then ran a windsurfing and water sports business in Essex for 17 years.
“I inherited a love of antiques from my grandmother, who herself was an antique dealer, and as a small child she took me along to the antique fairs of Sussex, so a love and appreciation was instilled in me from a young age,” Guy Trench told The Design Sheppard. “When I sold my watersports business, I thought I would give antiques a go, and as my wife is an interior designer, she advised and inspired me too.”
Guy began dealing in straight up antiques, before giving his antiques a quirky twist by adapting them into new household pieces. He started Antiques by Design in 2001. His first fair was the Grand Design Fair in London.

Antiques By Design reclaim and restore Victorian and Regency iron and traditional wooden windows. They are then imaginatively converted into strikingly distinctive decorative mirrors.
They have a creative selection of reclaimed sporting and musical memorabilia, antique farming implements, and other unusual and archaic items which are hand crafted into luxury lamps and chandeliers of all sizes.
The Company customises aged galvanised cattle water tanks into console, coffee, kitchen and pub tables. They also stock other antique and garden furniture that can be made to add a unique style to any space.
