Gina Esposito is an American Emmy award-winning reporter and fill-in Traffic Anchor at WSOC-TV. She joined the Eyewitness News Daybreak team as a morning reporter in May 2016 and is on television from Monday through Friday on WSOC-TV. She came to Charlotte from KKTV 11 News in Colorado Springs, Colorado. At KKTV, she worked on the morning show. While in Colorado, she covered the Aurora Theater Shooting Trial, Republican Presidential Debate in Boulder, Colorado, Legalization of Recreational Marijuana, and Legalization of Same-Sex Marriage. She also had the chance to cover major weather events, like floods, fires, blizzards, and tornadoes. She also served in the station’s bureau office in Pueblo, Colorado.
She began her career as a reporter on the west side of the state at KJCT News 8 in Grand Junction, Colorado. She attended San Jose State University and earned a degree in Broadcast Journalism. She worked as an anchor/reporter for San Jose State University Update News. She served as the Vice President for Radio-Television-Digital-News-Association (RTDNA). She also had an opportunity to intern at the station she grew up watching, KTVU Channel 2 News in Oakland, California. At KTVU, she shadowed Emmy-winning reporters.
Before she became a reporter, she had worked as an Educational Leadership Consultant for Alpha Xi Delta Fraternity. While working as a professional consultant, she traveled to more than 15 states – mostly in the southeast- and visited almost 20 universities across the country. Several chapters were located in North Carolina and South Carolina.
