Gemma Woolley is an artist, teacher and expert on BBC1’s Make it at Market. The artist uses fluid and resin art to make unique and upcycled home accents and artworks inspired by the natural world.

Speaking about her journey as an artist, Gemma said: “I have always been an artist but I was told by a career advisor at school that it was not a viable career option, my mum was a technical illustrator but my art is abstract, fluid and about emotion and connection, not realism. But with the help of my amazing mentor Sharon Walters I was able to establish myself as an artist, both of canvas works and home accents.”

According to her LinkedIn page, she is assistant headteacher at Chelmer Valley High School in Broomfield, England. She is a teacher of sociology, philosophy, and religious studies. She is also a charity trust secretary for a school in South Africa. Gemma has also served as a trainer and facilitator, developing and delivering professional development training for various institutions, including teaching school alliance’s and universities.

She is a graduate of the University of Cambridge.

Artist Gemma Woolley is an expert and mentor on BBC1’s Make it at Market. The show is about creatives attempting to turn their craft into a business with the help of Dominic Chinea and a group of mentors, specialists in their fields.

Gemma revealed he was taking part in the BBC 1 show on Instagram writing: “So for the last couple of months I’ve been filming for a new BBC1 show called #makeitatmarket, I’ve been setting up my business and trying to manifest my dream future!”

“I cannot thank my mentor, the amazing @london_artist1 enough! As well as all the beautiful humans who have helped me on this amazing adventure! Bring on the next steps!!”
