Dea Neile-Hopton is an artist, basket weaver, and circus skills teacher, with a background in arts, dance, and physical practice. She is an artist on BBC1 Make it at Market.
She is a basket maker and willow grower. Dea lives in South West Wales with her family. As a multiply disabled person Black British she’s passionate about using her skills to support others like her to gain skills and confidence.
Dea tries to break down stigma by talking openly about her challenges and how she uses her work to support her health and well-being. She hopes others can find hope, inspiration, and ideas through her work.
As a Neurodivergent Black British individual (autistic and ADHD) with Neurodivergent children, she brings a wealth of life experience and insight to support SPAN in continuing to develop and be more inclusive to minority elements of our community.
She sees SPAN as a vital artistic hub in a very rural area and uses her unique perspective on life as a neurodivergent individual to enhance creative possibilities for people like her. People, in other organizations, may not have the opportunity or ability to speak about what they need from the arts in their community.

Basket weaver Dea Neile-Hopton is a budding entrepreneur on series 1 of BBC1’s Make it at Market hosted by The Repair Shop’s Dominic Chinea.
Being a neurodivergent Black British individual (autistic and ADHD) with Neurodivergent children, she brings a wealth of life experience and insight to support SPAN in continuing to develop and be more inclusive to minority elements of our community.
Dea revealed she was taking part in Make it at Market Series 1 by writing on Instagram, “So at long last I can reveal THE BIG SECRET. I’ve been taking part in a new BBC TV series called Make it at Market. Which is all about crafters and artists starting their own businesses.”
