David Millar Biography – David Millar Wiki
David Millar is Executive Chef at Carlowrie Castle in Edinburgh, Scotland. He is a contestant on the Great British Menu 2025 and competed in Great British Menu 2024. David represented Scotland in the Culinary Olympics in Stuttgart, Germany in February 2024. He was a finalist at Scottish Chef of the Year 2023, as well as a semi-finalist at the National Chef of the Year 2022.
Born in Paisley, Glasgow, David has a vast range of experience working in both London and Scotland. He has worked at a number of Michelin starred restaurants including The Kitchen (1), Alain Ducasse (3) and Pied a Terre (2*), giving him a vast wealth of knowledge and experience.
According to his LinkedIn profile, he has also worked at Six by Nico, CH&CO, Restaurant Associates, Roots Soda and The Papermill.
David was previously Executive Chef at Jupiter Artland, in Edinburgh, where having the kitchen within an art gallery built a desire to fuse art with food. He is now Executive Chef at Carlowrie Castle, making the most of the ethos of using local produce and the grounds gardens to curate seasonal menus.
In February 2024, David was part of the Scottish Culinary Team at the Culinary Olympics in Stuttgart, Germany. The Scottish Culinary Team earned a double silver medal for chefs’ table and the hot kitchen.

David Millar is a contestant on the 20th series of Great British Menu, hoping for a chance to serve their dishes at a banquet celebrating great Britons of the past. He is representing Scotland alongside Mark McCabe, Calum Munro and Hannah Rose. He returns to the competition after taking part in the Great British Menu 2024.
His menu celebrates some unknown Great Britons from Scotland that have done extraordinary things. He has created a bespoke menu for the competition, that highlights the best of Scottish produce.

David Millar was a contestant on Series 19 of the Great British Menu on BBC Two and iPlayer. He competed in the Scottish heat for a chance to take home the regional title and make it through to the Great British Menu Banquet 2024.
He was up against some of Scotland’s best talent including Kevin Dalgliesh, Head Chef at Amuse by Kevin Dalgliesh; Calum Montgomery, Chef Patron at Edinbane Lodge and Ajay Kumar, Chef patron at Swadish by Ajay Kumar.
