Damian McGinty is an Irish singer-songwriter and actor. McGinty, who first shot to stardom aged 14 with the world-renowned group Celtic Thunder, starred as Irish exchange student Rory Flanagan in the hit show Glee back in 2011. The hit show, which followed the lives of members of a high school Glee club, starred big names such as Lea Michele, Amber Riley, Chord Overstreet and the late Naya Rivera and Corey Monteith.
When he was just 14, Damian joined Celtic Thunder, a group that has released over twelve studio albums, played on top American chat shows, and has opened the New York St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
He took a break from the group after co-winning The Glee Project, a reality TV competition where the winner got to have a seven-episode arc on the Ryan Murphy show.
Over the years Damian’s career has taken him around the world on nearly two dozen tours through the United States, Canada, Australia, and more, including nine tours with Celtic Thunder and five self-managed solo tours. He has appeared solo and as part of an ensemble in a dozen Celtic Thunder CDs, and as an independent artist has released three full-length CDs, four EPs, and multiple singles. His voice is featured in the Circle Round storytelling podcast The Piper and The Pooka. With Celtic Thunder he performed at the White House and Madison Square Garden, and as a solo artist he was featured as Elvis Duran’s Artist of the Month on The Today Show.
In 2021, he has released a new single every month, including ‘Those Were the Days’, a song about his life growing up in Derry with a music video filmed at his parent’s house in the city.
