Brandon Truaxe was the former CEO and founder of Canadian skincare company Deciem. Deciem was founded in Toronto, Canada in 2013. Since 2013, the firm has expanded across the globe with Deciem storefronts in the US, the UK, South Korea, Australia, Mexico and the Netherlands. It is reported to have a projected $300m (£228m) in sales in 2018.

In October 2018, Brandon Truaxe was removed from his post as CEO of Deciem following a lawsuit brought by the Estée Lauder Companies, an investor in Deciem since 2017. Estée Lauder Companies, a minority investor in Deciem, sued Truaxe after he posted a video on Instagram to advise that he was closing down his own company until further notice with immediate effect. He claimed that “almost everyone at Deciem has been involved in major criminal activity”.

Brandon Truaxe Suicide

On Sunday at 1:30 p.m., police responded to a report of a possible suicide at 33 Mill Street, in Toronto’s Distillery District, just a few blocks from Deciem’s headquarters.

A police spokeswoman said the force does not release information on suicides, and did not confirm Truaxe’s name was associated with this call. She said the 1:30 p.m. incident was being investigated as non-suspicious and non-criminal, which is consistent with how police handle both suicides and fatal accidents.

Truaxe had denied being gay, and in an interview in November said he had no romantic partner and had never been intimate with any employee of Deciem, but he acknowledged Swedaan had lived in his apartment for rent free for ten years.

Truaxe’s longtime colleague at Deciem Riyadh Swedaan said he had been Truaxe’s boyfriend for many years and lived at the same apartment.
