She was instrumental in creating a social media buzz against Anthem Sports & Entertainment, the parent company of TNA Impact Wrestling, which had threatened to take her children away as their “property” because they were born when Jeff was signed to TNA.

She had to deal with her then-boyfriend Jeff Hardy’s drug addiction throughout the 2000 s. He was released from WWE for the first time for drug use in April 2003. While he returned to WWE in August 2006, he had to drop his Intercontinental Championship title and was suspended for violating the company’s substance abuse policy for a second time in March 2008.
He signed a contract with TNA Impact Wrestling after being fired by WWE in 2009 and became even more reliant on drugs. In September the same year, he was arrested on drug trafficking charges and pled guilty .After a year later, when he was sentenced to ten days in jail, 30 months of probation, and a fine of $100,000 she who convinced him to check into rehab to save their family.
She again found herself in the middle of another legal mess with TNA owner Anthem after the Hardy brothers left the company in early 2017 and returned to WWE. Anthem claimed that the ‘Broken’ gimmick and the Hardy children were their property as “contractually anything created by contracted performers while in TNA is owned 100% by Anthem” including “intellectual property AND human beings”.
This caused a huge controversy, with legal experts opining that she might get half custody of their children as she was not under contract, while Jeff’s brother Matt and his wife wrestler Reby Sky, both signed to TNA at the time, might lose custody of their son Maxel. While the two brothers sought legal help, Beth and Ruby vehemently criticized Anthem on social media. Many fans and influential people from wrestling sided with the parents, which eventually forced Anthem to release the ownership of the gimmick and settle the issue in late 2017.
