Azán is the stage name for Alexandria Hyson-Stewart, an R&B artist based in Dallas. She is a contestant on the 24th season of NBC’s The Voice.
She calls herself a Creole Queen, determined to bring back “the new natural neo-soul/R&B sound.” She has her debut EP, “Beauty of Life.” It was released in late 2020, it features seven tracks. She released a music video earlier this year for one of those songs, “Stuck N Time.”
Earlier in 2020, Alexandria released a debut single called “K.M.O.” (Keep Moving On).
In her Spotify bio, the 28-year-old says she began performing in school and at talent shows around age 11. She graduated with honors from Cedar Hill High School, then went on to major in biology with a minor in music at the University of North Texas.
She has also worked as a wedding singer and says she has appeared in a number of theater productions in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. She returned to acting earlier in 2023, appearing in a play called “Cursed” about breaking generational curses.
“Seven years ago, I was in my first play, and, man, I must say I definitely missed the stage,” she wrote on social media. “What an amazing experience.”
She is 28 years old as of 2023. She was born in Austin, Texas.
