Amina Muaddi is a Jordanian-Romanian footwear designer and entrepreneur. She is the founder of her eponymous label, Amina Muaddi, a popular line of shoes, bags and jewellery which is “designed in Paris, produced in Italy, with an international heart.” The designer launched her first shoe brand, Oscar Tiye, when she was 26.

At age 16, Amina moved to Italy to start high school and then went on to study at the European Institute of Design, which led to her early career in fashion editorial and celebrity styling.

At age 26, Muaddi started her first brand, Oscar Tiye, and worked there for around six years. In August 2018, she launched her eponymous label, Amina Muaddi, which went onto become the industry’s most-searched shoe brand of late 2019, according to global fashion search engine Lyst.

The designer was inspired to explore the fashion world by her mother, who was her “main style icon.” She told Vogue: “When we were living in Jordan and Romania, I didn’t have a lot of fashion exposure, so my main style icon was my mom. She was always elegant and passionate about style. I would watch her do her makeup, and like all little girls, I loved dressing up in her clothes. I would try on her shoes even when I could barely walk in them. She always took care of herself and took such care in the way she dressed, so she was my introduction to this world and led to my passions.”

Her stepfather died in June 2020. The footwear designer took to Instagram to pay tribute to her stepfather. She wrote at the time: “You made the most noble choice: to be the father of a child that is not yours. I prayed to God that He’d take my tears and use them as fuel to give you more life. I will miss you forever daddy. My heart is shattered. Rest in Love.”
