Dr. Alexander Mishkin full name Dr. Alexander Yevgeniyevich Mishkin, is a trained military doctor and the second suspect in the Sergei Skripals poisoning case. He works for Russia’s military intelligence, the GRU and is a recipient of the Hero of Russia award, which is bestowed by a special decree by the Russian President. President Putin bestowed Alexander Mishkin with the Hero of the Russian Federation Award in 2014.
Alexander Mishkin is alleged to have been dispatched to Britain to carry out the poisoning of former Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia. He travelled to Salisbury under the alias Alexander Petrov. Alexander Petrov is an undercover alias for an officer of a Russian security agency.
Between 1995 and 1999, Mishkin moved to St. Petersburg and enrolled at a military academy. He studied at the Academy’s 4th Faculty, which trains military doctors for Russia’s naval armed forces. Between 2010 and 2013 Mishkin travelled — under his undercover persona of Petrov — multiple times to Ukraine, and often crossed by car into and back from the self-declared Transnistrian Republic where he stayed for short periods of time. His last trip to Ukraine was in mid-December 2013.
