Aisha Mbowe is a Gambian-American broadcast journalist. She is a reporter at WHDH 7News. She joined WHDH in Boston as a reporter in December 2020. Prior to joining WHDH, she was a weekend morning anchor and Reporter at Fox 61. She joined FOX 61 News in March of 2018 as a reporter. From November 2018 to November 2020, she worked as a Weekend Anchor and Primary Fill-In Anchor at WTIC-TV, in Hartford, Connecticut.
Prior to Hartford, she had been at WCTI 12 in eastern North Carolina from February 2016 to February 2018. She began as a reporter and multimedia journalist at the station’s Greenville bureau before moving to the morning show as a Breaking News Anchor and Reporter. While at WCTI 12, she reported on the historic flooding after Hurricane Matthew and the case of a missing three-year-old girl that made national headlines.
Before joining WCTI-TV, she was an MMJ and Reporter at KSNB-TV, in Hastings, Nebraska from June 2015 to January 2016. She delivered breaking news and live reports. She also shot, wrote, and edited stories and features for 5, 6, and 10 pm newscasts.
She graduated from the University of Maryland College Park with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Broadcast Journalism. While at the university, she was an MMJ and Reporter at the University of Maryland’s Capital News Service from January 2015 to May 2015. She shot, wrote, and edited breaking news packages for the Maryland Newsline newscast. She also pitched stories, set up interviews, and created video teasers, and adapted packages for social media and web platforms.
She interned at Radio One Inc., in Silver Spring, Maryland, and at WUSA-TV, in Washington, D.C. She was a promotions/Digital Intern at Radio One Inc from May 2014 to August 2014. She managed social media accounts, interacted with listeners at on-site live broadcasts/events, and assisted in research and show preparation. From February 2014 to May 2014, she was a Morning News Intern at WUSA-TV. She assisted the executive producer in writing and research, produced graphics for a morning news program, and performed stand-ups in order to create news packages.
She is proficient with editing programs including Edius, Avid, iNews, TVUPack, Final Cut, Adobe Audition, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe InDesign and AP ENPS. She is represented by Napoli Management Group, in Beverly Hills, California.
