Jones married Tanya Terry in 1994 in Watford. They later moved to LA when Vinnie decided to pursue a career in acting. He made his film debut in 1998 in Guy Ritchie’s crime comedy Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, playing a mob enforcer. He also starred in the likes of Mean Machine and X-Men: The Last Stand.

The couple renewed their vows in 2007. She was previously married to footballer Steve Terry.

“At 8.46am local time in Los Angeles on Saturday July 6, Vinnie Jones’s wife, Tanya Jones, passed away after a long illness.

“Tanya passed peacefully at the Jones family home surrounded by Vinnie, their daughter and other family members.

“Vinnie and the family ask for privacy while they go through an understandable period of mourning during this devastating time.”

Tanya Jones’ cause of death was cancer.

Vinnie confirmed in 2013 that both he and his wife were battling skin cancer. “She has dealt with health issues every day since,” he said, after revealing Tanya’s cancer was the result of drugs she took following a heart transplant at the age of 21 following the birth of Kaley. “They now think her skin cancer is a result of the drugs she’s been taking since the heart transplant,” he added. “When it comes to things like this, women are stronger. Suddenly I’ve gone from the one helping her to the one that needs support. I’m trying to take the world in a bit more and appreciate my family and friends.”

Tanya had previously been treated twice for cervical cancer and she later was diagnosed with malignant melanoma, the most serious form of skin cancer.
