Vic Henley was an American comedian and writer. He began his stand-up career in the 80s, starting in Phoenix, AZ. He moved to New York City in 1985 working clubs around the city.
He appeared on HBO, CBS, NBC, FOX, BRAVO, CMT, MTV, A&E, The History Channel and more. He was a VH-1 VJ and has his own Comedy Central half-hour special as well as performances on The Late Show and The Tonight Show.
He performed on over 500 college campuses in all 50 states, receiving 8 “Comedian of the Year”. His popularity in the corporate, performing arts and associations markets landed him many high profile gigs including co-hosting an event with former president George H.W. Bush.
He appeared regularly on numerous stages all over town including Gotham Comedy Club, The Comedy Cellar, Comic Strip Live, New York Comedy Club and Dangerfield’s. He is the co-author of a national best-selling book with fellow comedian Jeff Foxworthy.

Vic Henley died suddenly on April 6, 2020, at the age of 57 after suffering a pulmonary embolism. His niece, Tatum Singley, announced his death in a Facebook post. Singley wrote, “Vic Henley. An amazing son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, boyfriend, and best friend to many… he loved us all so much and we hope he knows how much we love him.
“The world loved Vic for the smile and laughter he brought to us all. The amount of venues he performed in around the country and being nominated 8 times for Comedian of the Year tells you a small amount of the respect he had in his industry of work. And he loved his work because it brought him so many of his friends. His friends were also a part of his and our family. Last week, he was just telling me how much he loved his life. He showed us all how much he loved us by how he showed up for each one of us every single day.
“This afternoon [April 6, 2020] at 3:55pm EST, Uncle Vic went to be with the Lord. He suffered from a pulmonary embolism over the weekend and after many efforts to save him, the angels came and took him home. We can’t thank his friends and Nicki enough for being there for us during this time. It means so much and we couldn’t do this without you.
“We already miss him so much and feel the heavy weight of this loss. He was our best friend. We love you more than you could ever know, Uncle Vic. Dad loves you, Nanny loves you, Mike loves you, Mom and Donna love you, Me and Rob love you, Katie and Franklin and Louise (Weezie) love you, Nicki loves you, your entire family loves you. Your friends love you.”
Greg “Opie” Hughes paid tribute to Henley in a Facebook post. Opie wrote, “Numb. R I P [Vic Henley]. A great comic. Loved doing radio with him but loved even more our friendship. The long hilarious, knowledgeable phone calls. The long walks home after doing the radio show ending in the middle of Central Park where I would turn left and he’d turn right. As we parted he would shout, “you’re not suppose to make new friends at our age.” Always happy, rarely sad. Never had a bad word to say about anyone. His laugh/giggle was so contagious which you wanted to be around. Music knowledge second to none. Fun to try to stump him which was almost impossible. Bring up any topic and he had a wealth of knowledge on it. Learned something interesting everytime I was in his presence. A great hilarious storyteller. Just an incredible loss to his family, friends and the comedy community. The world is less loveable today. Thanks so much for your friendship my brother.”
