Botham Shem Jean was a black businessman who was shot and killed on September 6, 2018 in his own apartment by a white female Dallas police officer, Amber Rene Guyger in Dallas, Texas.
He graduated from Arkansas’ Harding University in 2016, where he studied accounting. At the University, he served as a worship leader and resident assistant at the private, Christian liberal arts school. He also was a member of the Good News Singers.
He later moved to Dallas, taking a job in risk assurance at accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers. He attended and was active at the Dallas West Church of Christ.
