Ryan James Biography – Ryan James Wiki
Ryan James is an upcycler and artist. He appears in the BBC 1 reality television show Make It at Market showcasing his skills.
Ryan’s creative life began with a decade-and-a-half-long music career. After signing with a major publishing company in his early twenties he was taken on a journey – from performing internationally to collaborating with his heroes.
Since becoming a father, and following the global pandemic he decided it was time to re-evaluate his life and chosen vocation.
It all started with a vintage sideboard he found during lockdown. He decided to “do it up” to use in his music studio. James couldn’t believe the transformation and a new and unexpected passion was born.
He soon began selling his pieces online and taking on commissions. Things have moved quickly for Ryan, and since taking part in MIAM he has started incorporating his own unique digital artwork into his furniture designs.

“In the summer of 2022, I participated in the recording of an exciting new TV series called “Make It At Market” – a show that follows a group of upcoming artisans and crafters as they develop their businesses with help from professional mentors. I’m in the last episode of the series (no. 15), which is due to air Friday, January 20th, 2023 at 4:30 pm on BBC One. Tune in!”
