Ryan Costello was an American professional baseball infielder. He was drafted in 2017 by the Seattle Mariners in the 31st round. He was a Midwest League midseason All-Star with Class A Clinton in 2018. On July 30, 2018, he was traded to the Twins along with right-hander Chase De Jong for lefty Zach Duke.

Costello split the 2019 season between Class A Advanced Fort Myers and Double-A Pensacola, and combined to hit 15 home runs and drive in 46 runs with a .223/.343/.412 slash line in 108 games. He smacked a solo homer in Game 3 of the Southern League semifinals, a series the Blue Wahoos lost in five games to Biloxi.

Assigned to Fort Myers after the trade, Costello helped the Miracle win the 2018 Florida State League championship by hitting a decisive three-run homer in an 8-5 Game 4 victory over Daytona.

His former minor league team in Florida tweeted, “We were very sad to learn the news about the passing of former Miracle infielder Ryan Costello this morning. His home run helped lift the Miracle to the FSL Championship in 2018. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and the entire Twins organization.”

The Wallingford Cardinals tweeted, “This morning our hearts are heavy for the CT baseball community. Wethersfield High School (’14) standout and former Central CT State baseball player Ryan Costello was found dead in New Zealand at the age of 23.”
