Regina Thomas is a Circuit Court Judge in the Third Judicial Circuit of Michigan. She was elected as a Wayne County Circuit Court Judge in the November 6th, 2018 General Election. She was elected after practicing law in Wayne County for more than 19 years.

Prior to her election as a judge, Thomas was Director-Counsel and Advocacy Law Line (CALL) of Lakeshore Legal Aid, according to her Linkedin profile.

Before her position at Lakeshore Legal Aid, Thomas served as an assistant prosecuting attorney for the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office and an assistant attorney general for the State of Michigan.

Thomas was also chief counsel for the Juvenile Law Group (JLG) of Legal Aid and Defender Association, Inc. (LAD) until its closure due to a loss of funding. JLG provided representation to children in abuse and neglect situations and representation to juveniles charged with crimes. JLG worked to protect children, reunite families and to ensure resources were provided to at risk youth in the community.

Thomas is a member of the Wolverine Bar Association, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and the 2009 graduating class of the Detroit Regional Chamber’s Leadership Detroit, a 10-month transformational leadership program.

In 2014, Thomas was named an inaugural fellow for the George Washington University-National Medical Legal Partnership “Where Health Meets Justice Partnership” fellowship program. The purpose of which is to examine how civil legal needs can impact the health of under-resourced people in the community.

She also currently serves on the board of directors for Matrix Human Service and The Youth Connection, Inc.
