Ravneet Gill Biography – Ravneet Gill Wiki
Ravneet Gill is a formerly trained pastry chef, chef, author, activist and television presenter based in London. She is the founder of Countertalk, a platform that connects chefs and advocates supportive and healthy work environments in the industry. She is also the founder of Damson Jelly Academy, an online cookery school.
Ravneet Gill grew up with her mother, Jaswinder Gill, and grandmother, Jit Atkar. When Ravneet Gill was about 14, an astrologer told her mother that Ravneet would work in the food industry. It was such a ridiculous prophecy, she forgot to tell her until when Ravneet was 27 and had been a chef for seven years.
She became more interested in cooking in her late teens, especially baking cakes. After completing a psychology degree, she trained as a pastry chef at Le Cordon Bleu before working her way up the ranks in different pastry sections all over London – most notably, St. JOHN, Llewelyn’s, Jamavar, Black Axe Mangal and Wild by Tart.
In May 2018 she set up an organisation called Countertalk; a platform designed to help connect chefs, provide education and promote healthy work environments in the hospitality industry. Through Countertalk, Ravneet holds much-lauded food-based events, industry talks and aims to create a more equal and supportive workplace to help foster new talent.
Author of two cookbooks, Rav released ‘The Pastry Chef’s Guide: The Secret to successful baking every time’ in April 2020 as a handbook to dispel the fear around baking. ‘Sugar, I Love you’ was published in Oct 2021 as a more expansive baking book with essays and recipes on all things sweet.
In 2020 Rav joined Liam Charles as a judge on Junior Bake off alongside host, Harry Hill. Since, Rav has appeared on Saturday Kitchen, James Martin’s Saturday morning, This morning, Saturday Mash up and Sunday Brunch.
