Precious Paula Nicole is a Korean-Filipino drag queen and Drag Race Philippines Season 1 contestant. She is one of the most known Filipino drag queens, having been in the drag scene for more than 11 years.
She is a professional dancer and is also known for her comedy shticks and impersonation of divas such as Mariah Carey, Beyonce, and Asia’s Songbird, Regine Velasquez. A STAR performer at O Bar, the premier drag club in the Philippines, she is a mother to a host of other popular drag queens.
Before Precious turned to drag, she was a soulful painter and a graceful dancer. “My ex-boyfriend at the time started his career as a drag queen; I only used to support him and even became his backup dancer. Two years later, I realised that this is something I could do as well. And so I did,” Precious told Tatler.
For the queen, drag is more than glamorous stage entertainment, she regards the performance as an art that allows her to bring out her true colours and sense of identity. “Drag for me is an expression and an art form. It is where my fantasies come to life, the fantasies that I had hidden before because I was too afraid to be judged,” she said.
In drag, Precious enjoys both her talent in painting and dancing; moreover, the activity inspires her to take after her late mother, who cherished life and its never-ending lessons. “I used to be a painter and a dancer; when I saw drag queens painting their faces, it became clear to me that this might be my calling. Drag helped me go back to painting . . . my face this time!” she said.
In August 2022, Precious took to social media to pay tribute to her late mother. She wrote: “My Mama’s name is Marilyn. She is my inspiration and my ultimate hero. I miss her everyday and I wish she’s still with me as I go through the biggest competition of my life. Mama, I know you’re watching over me from the heavens. I’m scared, but I hope I make you proud. This is all for you! I love you, mama. Lavaaaarnn!!!”
