Peter ‘Pete’ Le is a lawyer and contestant on MasterChef UK 2024. He is currently an employment counsel at Activision Blizzard. He had stints at Herbert Smith Freehills, PwC UK, King & Wood Mallesons, Berwin Leighton Paisner, Squire Patton Boggs, Rossides Caine Solicitors, and Alstom Power.
Peter earned a first-class degree in Law from the University of Leeds in 2013. He described it as “living every Asian parent’s dream”.

British Vietnamese chef Peter Le is a contestant on the 20th series of MasterChef UK on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. He is among the contestants cooking for John Torode and Gregg Wallace in the third heat of MasterChef 2024, alongside Charlie, Enya Ayisha, Lee, Saffron Hodgson and Shreya Tiwari.
He told the BBC about his earliest cooking memory: “My earliest cooking memory is helping my grandma make the dozens of spring rolls which we would have during any special occasion like birthdays, Christmas, and Easter. My role was to peel the spring roll wrappers apart and then roll them when they were filled, which I made a pig’s ear of!”
His cooking style is inspired by his Vietnamese grandma, who is “worthy of at least two Michelin stars in my opinion. She taught me how to cook from a very young age and she is still passing down nuggets of wisdom now! I would describe my cooking style as packing big Asian flavours, with a more refined modern European take to presentation – a bit like me.”
Peter’s earliest MasterChef memory was watching Dhruv Baker in the 2010 series. He was “amazed by how he incorporated his Indian heritage into so many dishes, such as an Indian take on fish and chips. Seeing the technique and skills he developed throughout the show was also so impressive.”
Watching MasterChef over the years has given Peter ” the confidence to elevate my level of cooking to a standard I might not have dreamed of previously. It’s made me explore different flavour combinations and techniques, and opened my mind when it comes to food in general.”
“I think MasterChef has shown the country that food can be an event – something special that can take your breath away.”
He entered MasterChef to deliver authentic Vietnamese flavours, with a huge slice of Geordie wit and personality. He also wanted to compete with the best amateur chefs in the country and potentially meet some very esteemed guest judges.
