Peter Foley Biography – Peter Foley Wiki

Peter Foley is the Head Coach of the US Snowboard Team, a position he has held since 1994. He has been Snowboarding Head Coach of the US Olympic Team at the Winter Olympics in 1998, 2002, 2006, 2010, and 2014, according to his LinkedIn profile. He is currently representing the United States at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.

Foley has been a pioneer in the use of technology to train elite snow sports athletes. He is the Co-Founder and Director of Product Development at Insight Replay, creator of portable, battery powered wifi, instant replay video system.

He is also the Owner of Peter Foley Photography Inc., which deals primarily with sports photography, including advertising and editorial work in motocross, mt. biking, kitesurfing, and snowboarding, as well as projects in lifestyle and product.

Sexual Harassment Allegations

In a series of Instagram posts on February 11, 2022, former U.S. Snowboard Team member Callan Chythlook-Sifsof accused coach Peter Foley and Olympic athlete Hagen Kearney of sexual misconduct and racism.

“I cannot watch another Olympic games without saying this publicly,” Chythlook-Sifsof wrote in an Instagram post that tagged coach Peter Foley, US Ski & Snowboard, and current Olympian Hagen Kearney.

Chythlook-Sifsof, now 32, accused Foley of inappropriate sexual comments to her on at least one occasion when she was a minor.

“Lake Louise in 2014 was my last snowboard competition. That was a particularly toxic year but not much different than the other 9 years I traveled with the US Team. One of my first impressions of Head Coach Peter Foley at 17, was him whispering between my and a female teammates ear that he wanted to “put his tongue inside her p—-“, pointing to a very young Argentinian girl on a dance floor,” Chythlook-Sifsof wrote. “There are more serious actions that are not my story but should come to light…”

She further accused Foley of photographing naked female athletes. “Peter Foley has taken naked photos of female athletes for over a decade,” she wrote.

In addition, Chythlook-Sifsof, accused snowboarder Hagen Kearney of racism and the repeated use of the N-word when the two were teammates in 2014.

U.S. Ski & Snowboard is investigating the allegations of sexual misconduct and inappropriate behavior on the U.S. snowboard team. A spokesperson for U.S. Ski & Snowboard said in a statement: “U.S. Ski & Snowboard has been made aware of the recent allegations. We take these allegations very seriously and the allegations are being investigated.”

The U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee said in a statement: “We take all allegations of sexual misconduct seriously and follow protocols to ensure it is reported and managed properly.”

Foley said he was surprised by the allegations in a text to The Associated Press. He added: “I vehemently deny the allegations. I’m doing my best to concentrate on supporting the athletes at the Olympics.”
