Peter Caulfield is an English actor. Born in Boston and brought up in Nottingham, Caulfield underwent training at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, famously known as the “Fame” school founded by Paul McCartney. He graduated with a 1st BA (Hons) in acting.
During his training, he became a part of the Hedgehog, a small theatre company led by director Jamie Lloyd. The company achieved notable success, winning several awards at the National Student Drama Festival for their production of Falsettoland, which later garnered sold-out audiences at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Transitioning into his professional career, Caulfield began in the West End with his first production being the musical Our House, featuring music by Madness and a script by Tim Firth.
The show received acclaim, winning the Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Musical, and Caulfield portrayed the role of Lewis in the BBC Three TV recording of the production.
Caulfield made notable television appearances in episodes one and eight of the Channel 4 drama Cucumber, as well as in episode three of its spin-off Banana. His presence extended to the sci-fi series Doctor Who, where he portrayed Dahh-Ren in the episode titled “Oxygen.”
Additionally, Caulfield secured a role in the 2018 feature film Strangeways Here We Come and appeared in Sherlock in 2015.
His television roles continued with the portrayal of loan shark Shiv in the BBC One soap EastEnders, starting in March 2023. Later, in September 2023, he made an appearance in another BBC One soap opera, Doctors, playing the character George Fulton.
