Pamela Hutchinson was a member of the iconic R&B group The Emotions. The Emotions got their start as a gospel band of three sisters β Shelia, Wanda, and Jeanette β known as the Hutchinson Sunbeams, according to Stereogum. Pamela joined her sisters in the Emotions during the mid-β70s replacing Jeanette. The band’s biggest hit came with the 1977 song Best of My Love, which won the Grammy for Best R&B Vocal Performance by a Duo, Group or Chorus. The song has been featured in a number of high profile films, including 1997’s Boogie Nights, 1999’s Summer of Sam, 2006’s Mission Impossible III, and 2006’s The Holiday.
