Mike Naidoo Biography – Mike Naidoo Wiki

Mike Naidoo, born Michael Antony Naidoo, is executive chef and co-owner of Catch at the Old Fish Market in Weymouth. He appeared on BBC Two’s Great British Menu in 2024.

Mike grew up in the New Forest and after studying physiotherapy he was lured into the kitchens of local restaurants and decided to follow a career in hospitality. Starting his career working in a local fish and chip shop, Mike soon moved to London to learn more about cooking, and was able to work alongside some of the best chefs in the country including Jason Atherton at the Pollen Street Social (*).

He also has several years of career across some other well-known restaurants Purefoy Arms at Preston Candover and The Chesil Rectory in Winchester.

Mike’s Restaurant Catch! at The Old Fish Market opened just after the pandemic in June 2021. He moved to Dorset to take up his first Head Chef role at the restaurant. The restaurant offers a unique sea-to-plate dining experience. It prides itself in its sustainability efforts, and serves fish caught daily by its own boats, as well as sourcing every ingredient from local, sustainable suppliers. It is now in the Michelin Guide and the Good Food Guide.

Executive Chef Mike Naidoo is a contestant on Series 19 of BBC Two’s Great British Menu. He is one of four chefs competing for South West England, alongside Harbour House Head Chef Andi Tuck, The Angel Executive Chef Elly Wentworth and The Sardine Factory Restaurant Chef Patron Ben Palmer.

“I was so honoured to have been asked to represent the South West on the Great British Menu along with these incredible chefs,” Mike wrote on Instagram. “What an experience!”

Mike’s sustainable ethos is mirrored in his menu. He celebrates the Olympics and the home of sailing for 2012, Weymouth.
