Martin Solveig born Martin Laurent Picandet, is a French DJ, singer, songwriter and record producer. He was born on 22 September 1976 in Paris, France.
He started his music career as a child when he joined the choir of The Paris Boys Choir also known in France as Les petits chanteurs de Sainte-Croix de Neuilly. In the choir, he had a classical music training and became soprano soloist he had a classical music training and became soprano soloist.
He became a DJ aged 18 and started working in popular Parisian nightclubs such as L’Enfer, Le Queen, and Les Bains Douches. He was ranked number 29 in the 2011 DJ Mag Top 100 DJs. Solveig faced widespread criticism in December 2018 when he asked Ada Hegerberg the first ever female recipient of the Ballon d’Or to twerk on stage at the awards ceremony.
He apologized in a tweet saying, “Sincere apologies to the one I may have offended. My point was : I don’t invite women to twerk but dance on a Sinatra song. Watch the full sequence People who have followed me for 20 years know how respectful I am especially with women.”
