Mark Millar is a registered builder and the Presenter of Channel 5’s primetime series Dream Kitchens and Bathrooms with Mark Millar. He is known as the build manager on the hit BBC programme DIY SOS: The Big Build.
Mark has been involved in the building industry since 1991. He started his career in commercial construction with John Holland before working with CSR Building Materials and other reputable residential builders.
He holds an Honours Degree in Construction Management as well as being a Qualified Carpenter. He has been operating as a registered builder since 2003. He is the owner and director of MK Millar Constructions Pty Ltd. He started his own construction business in 2003. The construction firm is a member of the Master Builders Association Victoria, Housing Industry Association, and is registered with the Building Practitioners Boards.
He was a springboard diver and won the all-Irish diving championships, and now enjoys wild swimming and hunting for great places to do it, kayaking, camping and getting to know the local creatures and nature surrounding him. DIY SOS project manager Mark Millar has never suffered brain damage, but was involved in improving the Mildenhall home of Simon Dobbin, who was left with permanent brain damage after an unprovoked attack by a gang of men in March 2015. Dobbin was attacked after watching his team Cambridge United play away at Southend FC. He was left fighting for his life in intensive care after a massive stroke and bleed on the brain.
The 13 men convicted of involvement in the attack were jailed for more than 42 years in total, but Simon Dobbin’s wife, Nicole Dobbin, said the family had been handed a ‘life sentence’.
Simon Dobbins appeared in an episode of DIY SOS in 2019. Dobbins died on October 21, 2020, at the age of 48. Cambridge United announced the news on Twitter. The team tweeted: “It is with a heavy heart that Cambridge United can confirm we have received the devastating news that Simon Dobbin sadly passed away at home this morning. Sweet dreams Simon.
