Marissa Perez Cardona is the wife of Miguel Cardona, the education chief of Connecticut. She is a Community Organizer at Children First Initiative and works for ESPN and Family School Liaison Worker. She has worked as a Community Organizer at Univeral Healthcare Foundation since December 16, 2013, and at Children First Initiative since December 16, 2020. She has been a Program Manager at Nurturing Families Network since December 16, 2004. She also works at Family School Liaison Worker since June 12, 2020, and at ESPN since December 16, 2020, according to her Facebook page.
Marissa Perez is a former Miss Connecticut (2001). As a young lady, Marissa became involved in pageants and the Miss America Scholarship Program at the encouragement of her cousin. She looked at pageants as an opportunity to earn money and scholarship to pay for college and as a way to build confidence, poise, and share her love of music. After winning Miss Puerto Rico of Meriden, Marissa went on to win the Miss Connecticut Teen USA, pageant. She and her younger sister are the only two sisters to win the same state pageant. Marissa went on to compete in the Miss Connecticut Pageant system where she proudly served as Miss Meriden, Miss Elm City, Miss Shoreline, and Miss Fairfield. After several attempts earning the 1st runner up position, Marissa was able to achieve a goal of hers to serve as Miss Connecticut in 2001.
On September 25, 2001, Marissa proudly represented her family and State when she competed and sang at the Miss America Pageant in New Jersey. Just two weeks after the 9/11 tragedy, Marissa and 50 other contestants joined hands as proud symbols of American freedom and pride on the Miss America Stage in Atlantic City.
She is also a singer and Voiceover artist. The about section of her Facebook page reads, “This page is dedicated to sharing my first CD with you.
