Mario Ferri “Il Falco” is an Italian football player, activist and pitch invader. Ferri has played as a midfielder for the Italian team ASD Castel di Sangro since August 2022, according to his profile on the website Transfermarkt.

Ferri has been a professional football since 2013. Before moving to Castel di Sangr, he was contracted to second-division Indian team United Sports Club. The league was temporarily suspended in March 2022 due to the coronavirus pandemic, so Ferri returned to his hometown of Pescara.

Security officials quickly intervened and escorted away the protester. Ferri dropped the flag on the field. The referee picked up the flag and left it on the sideline, where it stayed for a few moments before a worker came to collect it.

On Tuesday, November 29, 2022, Ferri wrote on his Instagram story: “So many emotions right now. No legal consequence. I am free.”

In an Instagram post, Ferri wrote: “I will call it ‘the last dance’ – my last run on a playing field. I wanted to send important messages for me that I have lived on my skin in the past months.”

A statement from the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy for Qatar 2022 said: “Following the pitch invasion that took place during last night’s Portugal vs Uruguay match, we can confirm that the individual involved was released shortly after being removed from the pitch. His embassy has been informed.

“As a consequence of his actions, and as is standard practice, his Hayya Card (an entry permit to the state of Qatar and World Cup matches) has been cancelled and he has been banned from attending future matches at this tournament.”
