Claire Nicholson is a Lifestyle guru, former HR professional and wife of comedian Les Dennis. The former Family Fortunes host married Claire following his public break up from his second wife, Amanda Holden, after her affair with Men Behaving Badly star Neil Morrissey.

Dennis met life coach Claire in September 2005 at a charity ball for Laura Sadler, the Holby City star who fell to her death from a balcony. “We were both at a charity do and she came over to ask me for a dance. It was obvious that there was a bit of an age difference — Claire was 35, I was 52,” Dennis said in an interview with The Sunday Times.

“After everything that had happened I felt damaged,” he added. “At times I just wanted to bugger off to Spain and retire — to run away from all the pain. I certainly wasn’t interested in another serious relationship. Claire, who worked in HR and now looks after our finances, was a lovely person and, yes, I did ask if she wanted to go out for dinner, but it was nothing more than me being polite.”

Although Dennis may not have been looking for a serious relationship at the time, things quickly changed as he spent more and more time with Claire. “Love catches you out when you’re not looking,” he told The Sunday Times.

“Although Claire and I went on several dates, I couldn’t bring myself to commit. I convinced myself it wasn’t going to work. Then, after about four months, we were planning our first Christmas together and, out of nowhere, I found myself saying, “I love you.” The L word! Where did that come from?”
