Kevin Barnett was a New York-based comedian, actor and writer. He was 32 years old.
Barnett was a graduate of Dreyfood School of the Arts in West Palm Beach and of Florida State University. In an interview with Comedy Hype in 2014, Barnett said he first began in comedy while at school in Tallahassee.
Barnett’s comedy career was just taking off having recently executive produced and co-created Fox TV series “Rel” alongside comedians Lil Rel Howery and Josh Rabinowitz.
Barnett and Rabinowitz had previously been head writers and appeared in TruTV’s “Friends of the People,” and as writer-producers on “The Carmichael Show.”
He served as writer on the “House-sitting” episode of “Broad City.” He also appeared on HBO’s “Funny as Hell” and in Chris Rock’s “Top Five.”
He co-hosted podcast “Round Table of Gentlemen” with Ben Kissel for Last Podcast Network.
Barnett was a series regular on MTV2’s “Guy Code,” a writer for Comedy Central’s “Broad City,” Fox’s “Unhitched,” Adult Swim’s “The Eric Andre Show” and the animated comedy “Lucas Bros Moving Co.”

Barnett’s death was first announced by The Stand comedy club on Twitter: “Rest in peace Kevin Barnett 🙏.” On January 22, 2019, The Last Podcast Network, which hosted the podcast “The Roundtable of Gentlemen,” in which Barnett participated, released a statement: “Dear Last Podcast family, It is with a heavy heart we inform you of the passing of Kevin Barnett. The joy he brought to our lives is the greatest gift we have ever received. Remind your friends you love them because you never know when you’ll see them again. We love you KB.”
