Jonny Freeman is an English actor, resident MC, and comedian.
Freeman trained at the East 15 Acting School. In addition to his work as an actor, Freeman appears with the London improvisational comedy group Shotgun Impro and is a resident MC at The Funny Side Comedy Clubs.
He is best known for his role as Frank London in the children’s CBBC TV series, M.I. High. He has also starred in Dalziel & Pascoe, Doctors, EastEnders, and Love Soup, as well as several television adverts for Domino’s Pizza, Ford, and Trebor Mints.
Jonny is an exceedingly versatile actor, who particularly excels in character roles, whether comedic or dramatic. Recent work includes BBC’s Silent Witness, Channel 4’s Top Boy, and a return to his regular role as Team Leader Frank London in CBBC’s MI High. He is also a sought-after presenter and comedian and regularly appears as a guest panelist on Channel 5’s The Wright Stuff.
On 22 November 2022, it was announced that he had been cast as Dot Cotton’s great-nephew Reiss Colwell in EastEnders. His first episode debuted on 12 December 2022.
Freeman said he is “delighted” to be a part of EastEnders. “I am delighted to be joining the cast of EastEnders, especially as part of the iconic Dot Branning’s extended family,” the actor shared in a statement.
“Everybody has been so welcoming and I’m very lucky to have been working so closely with the lovely Natalie Cassidy who is not only a fantastic actress but a delightful person; she has very kindly helped me navigate my first few weeks. I hope I can do Reiss justice. He is kind but socially awkward and seeing how he manages, or doesn’t manage, his early exchanges with Sonia and her nearest and dearest has been quite interesting! I’m looking forward to seeing how both audiences and the residents of Walford respond to him.”
