Jethro Biography – Jethro Wiki

Jethro was a British comedian writer and producer, and singer. He was known for his role in Mick Miller: In the Club (2005), Jethro: I Told It My Way (2010), and Jethro: The Beast of Bodmin Moor (1997) according to his IMDb profile. He was born in St Buryan as Geoffrey Rowe. Upon completing his studies, he trained and later worked as a carpenter in the Levant tin mine.

He went on to join the local operatic society in St Just as a bass singer and then started touring entertainment joints such as pubs and clubs in Cornwall, singing traditional songs and doing comedy. Between 1967 and 1977, he played rugby for the Devon rugby team as a prop forward.

Rowe made his television debut on the Des O’Connor Show in 1990. He also appeared on Jim Davidson’s programs, and on regional television. In 1993, he produced his debut video, A Portion of Jethro, and went on to produce several others. Rowe appeared in a Royal Variety Performance in 2001. In February 2020, he announced that he was retiring from public performances at the end of the year; however his final shows were later postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

On Wednesday 15, December 2021, Jethros’s family announced his death via a statement on his official Facebook page, “It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of the well known and popular Cornish comedian Jethro. Tragically Jethro passed away on 14th December 2021 after contracting COVID-19”

“Jethro leaves behind his life partner Jennie, sons Jesse and Lanyon, step daughter Sarah, daughter-in-law Stacey and of course his much loved grandchildren. We ask that you respect our privacy at this very sad time and give us all time to grieve. We will continue to support each other in the knowledge that our lives will never be the same without him” they added.

Fellow comedians have paid tribute after his death, comedian Jim Davidson tweeted “My good friend Jethro has left us. RIP Jethro, you will be greatly missed.”
His manager John Miles said: “He was just the funniest guy, and a lovely, lovely guy and I’m going to miss him enormously. It didn’t matter what age, or where anybody came from, whether he was royalty or he was just a normal guy like me – he appealed to everybody. He just loved to make people laugh – what a wonderful thing, and he did make millions of people laugh.”
