Helen McCrory (born Helen Elizabeth McCrory) was an English actress. She was best known for starring in Peaky Blinders and the Harry Potter films. She was a versatile actress with a career on stage and screen spanning almost 30 years.

She attended Queenswood School near Hatfield, Hertfordshire, then spent a year living in Italy, before returning to London to study acting at the Drama Centre.

McCrory played Aunt Polly, the matriarch of the Shelby clan, in all five series of the hit BBC period gang drama “Peaky Blinders” from its start in 2013 to 2019. She also starred as Clair Dowar in the 2012 James Bond film “Skyfall” and played the former wife of Tony Blair, Cherie, in the film “The Queen”.
